Just the Goods Newsletter - October 2025

Happy October!

We've had some unusually warm autumn days in Winnipeg this year, which has helped me harvest flowers for many more weeks than expected! Today, however, I think the cold is finally beginning to settle in earnest. Wherever you are, I hope you're cozy, warm, and keeping well with the people you love most ๐Ÿ’š

Today I have so much news to share with you, including:

  • US shipping update
  • Canadian shipping update
  • New Just the Goods product
  • Re-stock news
  • Summary of new and re-stocked Just the Goods items coming soon
  • A sale on all Attitude products ๐Ÿ˜Š

US shipping update

Thank you for bearing with me while navigating the latest round of trade issues! Iโ€™m delighted to report my Canadian broker has been able to clear everything without the application of tariffs thanks to Just the Goods products being CUSMA compliant under CBP Form 7523. This has been a great relief! The only big change from my end is that is more cost effective to ship once a week, instead of twice per week, so hopefully everyone will agree this is a reasonable compromise to ensure Just the Goods products can remain as affordably priced as possible without incurring extra expenses that need to be covered ๐Ÿ˜Š Thank you again!

Canadian shipping update

Canada Post is currently unavailable due to strike action. I look forward to being able to return to their services as soon as things are negotiated but, as an online operation, I do need to continue shipping in the interim so I've turned toward Purolator Courier and UPS.

Both carriers have agreements with Shopify. The Purolator rates available to Shopify are often accurately conveyed at check out. Shopify's agreement with UPS, however, prevents them from publicizing their favourable rates at checkout, which are in fact closer to Canada Post rates!

So, even though Canada Post is currently on strike, please know you're still welcome to choose Canada Post rates at checkout if it's the lowest provider and I'll make the choice between either Purolator or UPS, and I'll happily absorb the difference as possible during this time. Major discrepancies are rare and limited to very remote locations only; if that happens to affect your order in particular, I'll reach out on a to discuss options on a case-by-case basis ๐Ÿ˜Š Thank you!!

New!

Just the Goods's new limited edition vegan cuticle and nail balm has been a long time in the making! Over the course of several years I experimented with various combinations of botanical ingredients, exploring different viscosities, ultimately choosing a light balm to offer comprehensive support for both cuticles and nails. This is something I use regularly so I imagine I'll be able to skip right from offering from limited edition to making it available as part of the permanent catalogue ๐Ÿ˜Š

Details are as follows:

  • shea butter offers barrier support by preventing moisture loss for both the cuticles and nails to reduce flaking and peeling
  • castor seed oil strengthens, moisturizes, and promotes nail growth thanks to nutrient-rich and anti-inflammatory properties. It's high in ricinoleic acid, an antioxidant that protects the skin from free radical damage and, since itโ€™s also an occlusive, castor seed oil physically prevents water loss for better, lasting hydration
  • apricot kernel oil hydrates and revitalizes cuticles while also providing deep hydration to promote nail flexibility and strength
  • argan oil moisturizes, strengthens, and protects nails against brittleness and breakage
  • evening primrose oil is rich in essential omega-6 fatty acids and biotin, which is an important compound for nail strength to reduce splitting and cracking
  • rosehip seed oil has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce swelling and inflammation around the nails while diverse essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants work to moisturize, nourish, and protect the skin around the nails
  • myrrh essential oil protects cuticles from dryness, which can help to promote nail growth. It is also mildly antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory
  • lemon essential oil contains vitamin c, which helps to brightens nails and remove stains
  • vitamin e is a fat-soluble vitamin with antioxidant properties that helps strengthen, hydrate, and repair nails

The overall scent is mild with lemon being the most notable, but still very subtle.

Note: I excluded wax as an emulsifier to increase absorption into fingernails, but this means the formula is prone to melting under high heat conditions. If you live in a hot climate and find this item has melted, simply shake the sealed jar well then pop it into a freezer until it re-congeals. Once the product has thawed you'll find the texture is a bit different, but it will still work great! Enjoy!!

Back in stock!

Finally! The second order of kokum butter I made (replacing the first order currently on hold within the postal system) has arrived and I can now re-stock atrophy relief balm! Yay!

If you're not already familiar with this item ... years ago a friend invited me to create a botanical formula to support sensitive tissue atrophy, the sort of which results from medical hormone therapies, menopause, diabetes, and autoimmune concerns such as lichen sclerosis. The formula was a success so I mentioned it in an earlier newsletter and learned it may be of value to others, as well.

Just the Goods' atrophy relief balm is hydrating, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and contains a diverse range of nutrients and antioxidants, designed to support tissue regeneration and relief from vulvฮฟvฮฑgั–nฮฑl* atrophy (also known as atrophic vฮฑgั–nั–tั–s*). This is a skin care formula designed to provide surface relief to sensitive tissue and does not include any ingredients that are considered pharmaceutical in nature.

For many people around the world, November is time to celebrate our ancestors and their gifts to us. Just the Goods limited edition ancestral remembrance perfume oil is a way through which to thin the veil at any time of year by deepening reflection, increasing remembrance, amplifying communication, and enhancing our ability to both receive learning and tune into our natural intuition. This perfume features a complex blend that highlights the soft warmth of amber and rose, the depth of frankincense, and the bright sweetness of birch.

  • rose opens the heart to attract compassion, understanding, healing, and love
  • amber absorbs negative energy and transmutes it into positive
  • cedar honours ancestors and celebrates important life transitions such as births and initiations
  • frankincense purifies, transforms spirit, and enhances communication
  • helichrysum cleanses energy and calls ancestors in
  • birch is connected with rebirth and reincarnation, and can transmit messages to the other side

This item is so beloved that I decided to make an extra large batch this year ๐Ÿ˜Š Please find it here: https://justthegoods.net/products/limited-edition-ancestral-remembrance-perfumeโ€‹

In case you missed it...

Iโ€™ve had so much fun coming up with gourmand scents for hand/body lotion, and this has been highly requested.

Itโ€™s PSL season! Pumpkin spiceโ€ฆ lotion ๐Ÿคญ

Featuring spicy cinnamon, clove, and ginger essential oil, plus a touch of vanilla absolutely for sweetness, this lotion is *inspired by* the ever popular autumn treat. The one key ingredient notably missing from this blend is nutmeg because -- to be completely honest -- nutmeg essential oil is remarkably pungent and much too warming. Still, please keep in mind that this essential oil blend may still be a little warming, so caution is recommended for those with very sensitive skin.
โ€‹
Like all other Just the Goods' scented lotions, this scent holds close to the body and doesn't project or linger so it provides comforting aromatherapy upon application, but is still appropriate to wear in environments where strong scents are discouraged.

And, like Just the Goods' regularly available hand/body lotion, this variety is made from nourishing grapeseed oil, which is packed with antioxidants including vitamin E to reduce inflammation and supports the production of collagen making it an effective, fast absorbing, and long lasting moisturizer.

Available until October 31, find it here: https://justthegoods.net/products/just-the-goods-limited-edition-psl-pumpkin-spice-lotion

Sale item!

Oops! A distraction while multitasking when a lunch break was several hours late led to a batch of facial moisturizer for dry skin that is accidentally thicker than it should be ๐Ÿ˜…

Whereas products with less water are usually more expensive, I'm offering this batch at a slight discount to ensure it doesn't go to waste. Those who use this formula regularly will notice it's slightly heavier so -- while it might not be suitable as facial moisturizer for everyone -- it certainly makes a very luxurious hand/body lotion scented with chamomile and sandalwood essential oil!

This batch will have the same product label as normal, with a blue dot added with marker to indicate the distinction. Find it (and details about the formula as normally intended) here: https://justthegoods.net/products/sale-slightly-different-just-the-goods-vegan-facial-moisturizer-for-dry-skinโ€‹

Enjoy up to 20% off all products by Attitude

Folks in Canada are welcome to enjoy up to 20% off all Attitude products at justthegoods.net!

Why?

Since August 27 I've been trying to obtain a Certificate of Origin from Attitude to confirm their products are made in Canada and thus compliant with CUSMA so my broker can clear orders with items by Attitude into the US. I've been a retailer since 2023, so I'm not sure why no one is responding to any of the emails, voice messages, and social media DMs I've sent trying to procure this very easily obtainable documentation ๐Ÿ˜…

Whatever the reason for their radio silence, I find that I have waaaay more inventory than I could possibly need for clients in Canada only so, to make some room on my shelves, I'm putting all of these products on sale for folks in Canada! All prices are marked down automatically -- no coupon code is required ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hello ๐Ÿ˜ŠI hope you're having a beautiful Saturday! I'm working on a newsletter that will share details about all the special items I'm hoping to offer over the next few weeks, plus information about my year end production and shipping schedule. I was thinking of including this item, then decided to send news about it separately so it's easier to find ๐ŸŒผ A few years ago I created a small gift for those processing grief -- a tea that has brought me some small comfort through making, sharing,...

Happy September!I hope your move into autumn has felt soft and wonderful! Todayโ€™s newsletter is one Iโ€™m delighted to share because it involves the best scenario I could imagine, given the many changing circumstances over the past several months. In short: US shipping is resolved -- no product price increases; CUSMA compliant products only; shipping once per week to mitigate extra overhead costs; shipping rates slightly increased for the first two rate categories to address new charges...
