Today’s newsletter is one I’m delighted to share because it involves the best scenario I could imagine, given the many changing circumstances over the past several months. In short:

• US shipping is resolved -- no product price increases; CUSMA compliant products only; shipping once per week to mitigate extra overhead costs; shipping rates slightly increased for the first two rate categories to address new charges
• Discounted Canadian shipping is now available via Purolator Courier
• A new limited edition / seasonal lotion offering is now online

Navigating the Canada / US Trade Agreement

Great news!

With the help of our fantastic Canadian broker, and thanks to Just the Goods products being compliant with the Canada US Mexico Trade Agreement (CUSMA), Just the Goods is shipping to the USA under a declaration form that makes possible the following:

• New brokerage costs will only be $25 CAD per entry into the United States instead of approximately $360 CAD per entry
• Just the Goods does not need to collect and remit tariffs; US clients will not need to pay any upon receiving their orders
• Orders can ship directly to clients without going through a distributor

To make this work as best as possible…

• Just the Goods will ship to the US once per week to reduce excess entry expenses, which are beyond the usual cost of brokerage and transportation of parcels from Winnipeg Manitoba Canada to Pembina North Dakota USA
• I’ve slightly increased the cost of shipping for the first two shipping levels (i.e. the shipping rates typically assigned to orders of single items)
• Ideally, this change in shipping rates will help me to *not* raise the cost of products for anyone 😀

The main conditions for remaining compliant with CUSMA require that…

• Just the Goods ships to the United States only products certified compliant. This includes all Just the Goods products, as well as Jack59 and GroundSoap because they have provided me with their paperwork; I’m still waiting for Attitude to provide me with theirs.
• Just the Goods can no longer ship products such as Nippon Kodo incense, Muji blotting papers, etc because they are made in Japan, not Canada, and would require entry paperwork completed by a US-based customs broker. In February this limitation affected only goods made in China (i.e. gua sha tools and comedone kits), but now this means everything not made in Canada. I’ve updated the US catalogue to reflect this.
• Just the Goods can no longer ship packaging accessories without corresponding Just the Goods products. If you need pumps or flip top caps with your order, please use the drop down menus on product pages to ensure those are selected with and transported as part of your Just the Goods products, not as separate products.

​Great news for Canadians, too!

I was delighted to discover on Thursday night that I now have access to shipping rates by Purolator Canada, the courier subsidiary of Canada Post.

I’ve added this to the range of options available to Canadians at checkout and am happy to see rates in some cases $4.00 - $7.00 lower per parcel! Of course, the best value still comes from combining multiple items into a single order, which I always think of as an invitation to make Just the Goods a social occasion by sharing an order with one or more friends to divide the shipping rate between two or more people! 😀

​Limited Edition

I’ve had so much fun coming up with gourmand scents for hand/body lotion, and this one has been highly requested!

It’s PSL season! Pumpkin spice… lotion 🤭

Featuring spicy cinnamon, clove, and ginger essential oil, plus a touch of vanilla absolutely for sweetness, this lotion is *inspired by* the ever popular autumn treat. The one key ingredient notably missing from this blend is nutmeg because -- to be completely honest -- nutmeg essential oil is remarkably pungent and much too warming. Still, please keep in mind that this essential oil blend may still be a little warming, so caution is recommended for those with very sensitive skin.

Like Just the Goods' regularly available hand/body lotion, this variety is made from nourishing grapeseed oil, which is packed with antioxidants including vitamin E to reduce inflammation and supports the production of collagen making it an effective, fast absorbing, and long lasting moisturizer.
